Week 4
Last week I gave my students a reading assignment that was only completed by half of the class. I told my pupils this week that I was reading some articles that talked about the importance of reading to develop vocabulary and language in general. Some of them argued that it's better for them to read booksin paper rather than reading ebooks. That reply was amazing because I thought most of my students were "techy" but I had to give them 8 paper books for them to read. Let's see if next week thay have the assignment ready.I was checking the ebooks recommended in the course but I found most websites lack pictures or are not very attractive because they are adressed to older kids but anyway I kept looking for something to use in my classes. Let me add the link to keep it handy:

Hello,
ReplyDeleteYou know, it's interesting as my children also wanted to read paper-books. They are very tech, but when I said that we are going to read e-books they were upset and asked me why... Then I explained the importance of saving trees which we need for paper-books and showed some tricks how we can look up for a word in a dictionary without leaving the page and printing the word. It helped. Hope your students also will find the benefits of e-reading.
Best,
Jurgita
Yes, I agree with you about taking care of the environment. Thanks for the advice.

Hi
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jurgita and we should do something to save our environment. But at the same time we should make online readind easier for students. The screen on which they read should be big enough and scrolling should be smooth.I think E-book readers are better than laptops and handsets to read. They feel like books (light weight too)and take less energy. As e books will be unavoidable very soon we should try to find a better solution.

Hi Mariaang ,
ReplyDeleteI think both of us have the same interest. I recommend to you to try to use this site as a big library for free e-books.
